MySunrise was founded in 2017 and launched as a Pilot in 2018 at Royal Cornwall Hospital. This was in response to increasing pressures on cancer services and the need to think differently about how we can better support and empower patients through treatment. Since then we have shared more widely the value in our platform as we've expanded across multiple sites in the UK and beyond.

With rising incidence of cancer and treatments becoming more complex, pressures on NHS services are greater than ever before. Navigating through treatment can be a journey into the unknown for patients and their families.
Our vision is to empower patients with the right advice and support every step of the way through treatment. Helping to relieve anxiety and giving back some control, whilst at the same time reducing some of the pressures on staff and services.
I was diagnosed with a malignant metastatic melanoma in 2016 and, while I have had some lapses, I am currently cancer free albeit with monthly immunotherapy treatment. I started writing about my experience of having cancer as part of a blog so that my young son (18 months at the time diagnosis) would have something to help him understand what I went through.
This blog was self published as a book in 2021 to help people understand the reality (and sometimes hilarity) of facing everything cancer has to throw at you alongside everyday life.
I am proud to have been working with the MySunrise App for the past few years and believe it is an exceptional resource to help people of all ages and backgrounds access the information they need, when and where they need it.
