We are excited to announce that Dudley Group NHS Trust will be joining the MySunrise family in 2026. They will feature on our award-winning cancer companion app alongside fellow West Midlands trusts Sandwell and West Birmingham, Wolverhampton and Walsall. The Dudley version will officially be launched in January 2026 but we thought we would show you an exclusive look behind the scenes at what goes into producing the MySunrise content.
As part of our implementation process, the team visited Russells Hall Hospital at the beginning of November to undergo a fact finding tour. Here we met the team, got to know the services on offer and scouted locations for filming. We then returned to Dudley at the end of November for our filming days.
During these days, we filmed in the Georgia Unit and Day Case Unit at Russells Hall Hospital, showcasing the great treatment that patients receive here in Dudley. We also interviewed many of the nurses and patients about their treatment. These valuable insights will help us produce videos about the Georgina Unit, the Day Case Unit (where patient undergo systemic anti-cancer treatments – also know as SACT), as well as videos about clinical nurse specialists, cancer care navigators and their 24 hour triage service.
It also allowed us to begin configuring a version of our digital pre-assessment service which will help the nurses prepare patients for treatment using our exclusive video checklists.
We were also able to film at White House Cancer Support, a centre who provide non-medical services such as support groups, complementary therapies and patient advice.
George Brighton, Director of MySunrise, sums the experience up by saying “We had a fantastic few days filming with the Dudley Cancer services team and we look forward to launching MySunrise for Dudley ready for Cancer patients and teams to start using in the New Year.”
Tracy Beese - Improvement Lead for Cancer Services - agreed: “We are delighted to have MySunrise produce a version for Dudley. Having the videos filmed on site and featuring many of the nurses who patients will meet on the ward will really help to manage their fears about what can be a very difficult time. It will really help patients get an idea of what types of treatment they will be having on the Georgina Unit and prepare them for their treatment from the comfort of their own home. We can’t wait to share the app with our patients.”
We look forward to unveiling the finished videos in January and if you have any questions about bringing MySunrise to your local NHS trust then please contact us at info@mysunrise.co.uk
