We’re always delighted to hear feedback on how MySunrise is helping with cancer care. Whether that is from patients or the wider cancer care industry. Recently we were delighted to get feedback from two respected industry partners - Health Innovation South West and MSD and you can find out more about these below.

Health Innovation South West Cancer Innovation Challenge.

As part of the recently completed South West Cancer Innovation Challenge, Health Innovation South West – one of England’s 15 regional health innovation networks – evaluated the use of MySunrise’s digital pre-assessment tools to support patients receiving Systemic Anti-Cancer Therapy (SACT). With demand for SACT rising 6–8% annually and workforce capacity stretched, services across the country are under significant pressure.

You can read the full evaluation report here.

The report states that: MySunrise offers a patient-facing app that provides tailored, multimedia information – such as videos, checklists, and written content – alongside the ability to deliver remote ‘new patient talks’. These talks are a vital part of the patient journey, offering guidance on treatment preparation, managing side effects, and where to seek help.

Implemented at Torbay Hospital, the tools saved approximately 138 hours of staff time within the first seven months, reducing the length of new patient talks from 90 minutes to around 30. The evaluation also found that the app improved patient understanding, reduced unnecessary travel, and supported family involvement—all while helping to sustain overstretched cancer services.

George Brighton, MySunrise CEO, said: “This evaluation is a fantastic endorsement of how digital tools like MySunrise can meaningfully support both patients and NHS teams. We’re proud to be contributing to more sustainable, accessible cancer care and look forward to scaling this work further.”

More about the Health South West Cancer Innovation Challenge

The Cancer Innovation Challenge was launched by Health Innovation South West in May 2024 to support innovators working to improve cancer diagnosis, treatment, care pathways, and equity of access across the South West. Funded by NHS England and the Government’s Office for Life Sciences, the programme selected up to three high-potential projects for a six-month real-world evaluation and business case support.

Running from August 2024 to March 2025, the initiative formed part of the Peninsula Research & Innovation Partnership’s Cancer Mission and is designed to accelerate the adoption of impactful innovations within NHS, social care, and community settings.

Accelerating Cancer Patient Pathways with MSD

MySunrise has also been featured in MSD's report "It's About Time: Accelerating the Cancer Patient Pathways," which you can read here.

Chosen as one of its case studies, MSD endorses MySunrise for its real-world impact—enabling cancer patients to prepare for treatment and complete assessments from home. The report highlights a recent pilot where 40% of patients used the app’s virtual pre-assessment pathway, saving over 100 hours of nursing time and cutting more than 500 kg of CO₂ emissions. It praises MySunrise for improving efficiency and reducing unnecessary hospital visits, showing how digital tools can ease NHS pressures while empowering patients with timely, personalised support.
