We are exctied to anounce that the new version of our digital cancer companion for the patients and staff at The Dudley Group NHS Foundation Trust is now live!

The latest release joins Walsall, Wolverhampton and Sandwell & West Birmingham as part of the MySunrise family. It delivers locally configured cancer information, bespoke video content filmed with Dudley clinical teams, and multi-language video subtitles to make essential information more accessible to a diverse patient population.

Developed in partnership with NHS cancer services, MySunrise provides patients and their families with trusted guidance before, during and after cancer treatment. The platform brings together treatment information, local contact details, educational resources and support services in one place, helping patients better understand their care and navigate their treatment journey with confidence.

Key features of the Dudley MySunrise app

The Dudley version of MySunrise has been specifically configured to reflect the services and pathways available at The Dudley Group NHS Foundation Trust. Key features include:

  • Locally tailored cancer information specific to Dudley services and treatment pathways
  • Bespoke video content filmed on site, introducing patients to the wards, facilities and clinical teams they will encounter during treatment
  • Staff-led guidance, helping patients understand key roles such as clinical nurse specialists and cancer care navigators
  • Multi-language accessibility, including subtitles across video content to support a diverse patient population
  • Web browser access, making Dudley the first NHS trust available through the new MySunrise web app, enabling patients to access the platform without needing a smartphone or tablet

Together, these features help patients become familiar with the people, places and processes involved in their care, reducing uncertainty and helping them feel more prepared ahead of treatment.

George Brighton, Director of MySunrise, said:

“We’re incredibly proud to be launching the Dudley version of MySunrise and to be working alongside such an incredible cancer services team. By combining locally tailored content, accessible information and our new web platform, we’re helping ensure that more patients and families can access trusted guidance and feel better supported throughout their cancer journey.”

Tracy Beese, Improvement Lead for Cancer Services at Dudley, added:

“We are delighted to have MySunrise produce a version for Dudley. Having the videos filmed on site and featuring many of the nurses who patients will meet on the ward will really help to manage their fears at what can be a very difficult time. It will help patients prepare for their treatment from the comfort of their own home.”
